New-MailboxSearch  Not Working
I'm a member of Organization Management as well as Discovery Management. However, when i run the following command: New-MailboxSearch test -SearchQuery "body:'contoso" -TargetMailbox testuser I get this error: Errors : {Unable to execute the search because the current user does not have permission to write to the target mailbox.} Any ideas? Thanks, -DEMPC

Perhaps: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2510008 Error message when you try to search mailboxes by using the Exchange Control Panel: "Unable to execute the search because the current user does not have permission to write to the target mailbox"

Hi Andy, I am running SP1 on all my mail servers. I am executing this command from my EMS via my laptop. I assume I don't have to do some kind of management tools update on my machine do I? Thanks,-DEMPC

Ok, dumb question. Do you have full mailbox perms to that target mailbox?

I've assigned full access permissions at the databases level which automatically propagates down to new and existing mailboxes. So yes, if i check under full access permissions i am listed there. -DEMPC

Try giving yourself explicit full mailbox access to that specific mailbox, not at the database level. For what its worth, be careful assigning your account full mailbox access to multiple mailboxes. They will get auto-mapped in Exchange 2010 SP1 to your Outlook profile.

Hey Andy, I added full access permissions for my account directly to the mailbox. Same error... Add-MailboxPermission -Identity discoverysearch -User admin -AccessRights fullaccess -InheritanceType all Thanks,-DEMPC

well it took some time to replicate but that seemed to fix it... so strange. If i want to have rights to open up EVERYONE's account with my credentials where do i set this at? I'm aware of the problems with the MAPI connection trying to open every mailbox and i take responsibility for this. I've assigned it at the database level and pushed it down and I can open there mailboxes with "open another mailbox" through OWA ... but let's say for instance i want to create an outlook profile with their account using MY credentials .. ???
